Hello all! I’m back again with an other preview. I read 8 books in June which was so fabulous! I am setting a pretty steady pace to catch up with some books on my backlist and just may be able to fit in a “just-for-fun” book or two. Fingers-crossed. Here is a look at what I plan to read in July:
The Heirs by Susan Rieger (Crown, May 2017)
I am currently reading this epic tale of legacy and loss. There is a sophisticated quality to this story that is unmatched in anything I’ve read recently.
The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley (Bloomsbury, August 1)
From the author of The Watchmaker of Filigree Street comes a fraught and fantastical journey through the forests of Peru.
The Address by Fiona Davis (Dutton, August 1)
From the author of The Dollhouse comes a passionate and emotive tale of the inhabitants of New York’s most coveted locale, The Dakota.
Sour Heart by Jenny Zhang (Random House, August 1)
The first from Random House’s new Lenny imprint comes a collection of short stories on the coming-of-age of girls in New York City.
Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber ( Gallery, August 1)
The story of a famed podcast reopening a murder case..Netgalley calls it Serial meets In A Dark, Dark Wood.

And last but not least I have been listening to podcasts more recently than audiobooks. My commute is short so I kept feeling like I was losing the plot with an audiobook. My two favorites lately are Stuff You Missed in History Class from How Stuff Works and All The Books from Book Riot. Both are narrated by a pair of fierce woman and each have a subtle feminist underpinning which I wholeheartedly love. Do you listen to podcasts? What are your favorite ones? I love podcasts! I have a lengthy commute – Typically 45 minutes each way. I’m partial to true crime and NPR. Some favorites: Ask Me Another, Serial, Invisibilia, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, The Accused, Casefile, and there’s more! Oh awesome! I will have to check that out for sure. I’ve been getting more into them recently. It’s such a fun way to learn new things or to get super excited about topics you already know and love.

If your interested in True Crime any My Favorite Murder is a fun podcast. It’s done by two women and one of their cats almost always makes an appearance. They are pretty funny at times and there is a lot of cussing but I love it. They also have full length and mini episodes depending on how long you want to listen. 😃

Anne Bogel’s What Should I Read Next is great. I vacillate between podcasts and audio books since I love them both so much. I have been reading much more than normal because of Summer, I am not looking forward to when the semester begins again.
I read a record 32 books this past month, though most were bundled up in the Oz collection so they were relatively short
